Hi, my name is Roy Dunne, the creator and author of meetroydunne.com.
If you’re anything like me, you love the internet and you love to make money. I’ll explain in a little bit how I combined the two and changed my life but first let me tell you a little about myself.
I’m an actual native, born and raised in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada.
After I graduated high school I had a massive travel bug, despite never really leaving Las Vegas for any extended period of time. So I figured what better way to explore the world and get paid to do it, and with that I enlisted in the United States Army and served in Active Duty for over 5 years, almost all of it in South Korea and in Germany.
Just before I was ready to proceed with my honorable discharge I visited my dad as he was building his private massage therapy practice. He let me help him work on 2 of his clients. (The first client was an exotic dancer, so he already knew how to sell the business to me.) After we finished working on the second client he turned to me and said: “Beats working on computers, doesn’t it, Tiger?” And I said: “Yes Dad…” and a legend was born.
Unfortunately, after I finished school I got the train wreck lesson that being a male massage therapist wasn’t nearly as glamorous as my dad made it out to be, and it only got worse each year. I spent a rough estimate of $11,000 to take a position that barely paid my bills & didn’t leave much for food.
Even with sharing rent with 3 friends keeping up on my minimum payments on my student loans, car payment, car insurance, rent, food, utilities and all the other crap I can’t remember off the top of my head was a constant struggle. I felt in my gut there had a better way; there absolutely had to be more to life than just struggling to survive. (I actually lost 30 pounds in one summer’s time, because I couldn’t afford to eat AND pay my bills, and I worked as a massage therapist in a major hotel on the Las Vegas Strip at this time.)
I know many of you can relate to being sold this magical career choice, to go to school, work hard, get good grades & finally get that job you were shooting for… only to realize the entire experience, from the lifestyle that would be lived through achieving a career in this chosen field to the training you took that was outdated at least 2 years before you graduated, was absolutely nothing like you were sold it would be. And somehow you keep finding yourself scrambling to claw your way out of debt that you racked up from all that schooling, only to be even deeper in the hole this month than you were last month. You keep telling yourself there has to be another way, but have no idea where to look or even what to look for. I’ve been there myself, and it was truly a frightening period in my life, as it may very well be for you right this moment.
Though the worst feeling may not be just the pain you feel from this nightmare scenario; you can also hear the cries of help from the people you love. You can see the fear in their eyes and hear it in their voice, and then they tell you that their house is about to get foreclosed on, they have no way of providing for their families, and they truly have no way out. I remember hearing these cries for help & the desperation from the people I love, but feeling completely powerless to help because I was in the exact same situation myself. I wanted to help them, but I had no power to do so. It was truly the worst feeling imaginable.
During this time in my life I was desperately trying to figure out what I could do to dig my way out of this freakish mess. As fate would have it I called up one of my favorite & most trusted instructors from massage school for some advice on what I should do. i still remember her sounding kinda nervous, fumbling for words as she invited me to this meeting about some sort of “internet business.” Of course, because of the person who invited me as well as sheer curiosity, I decided to go to the meeting.
What I discovered… confused me to no end. But most importantly, it opened a door to a completely new world that would change my way of thinking forever; I finally understood that there really WAS a way for me to live the life I always wanted but had no idea how to achieve it. I could not go back, even if I wanted to. Roy Dunne, Network Marketer, was born.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t working out like I hoped it would; people weren’t signing up to join me left and right like I thought they should. I mean, it was the best opportunity in the world, right…? In fact, people were running from me HARD when I would try to approach them about the “great opportunity” I had my hands on, especially my closest friends. I stumbled HARD trying to sell a business I didn’t understand; I was clueless about the fact I was even IN an MLM for 4 months. (I. R. GEEENIUSSSSSS!) I amassed even more debt with nothing to physically show for it, but learned a lot of things that would serve me greatly in the long run & I grew immensely as a human being because of that experience, and it laid the groundwork for what was about to happen.
I immersed myself in personal development materials, books, courses, audios, seminars, you name it. I was, and still am, obsessed with learning what went on between the ears of the rich and successful, because I wanted to mold my mind into that of a successful, self-made multi-millionaire.
This is when I learned how to attract the things I want into my life. And then it finally happened.
The teachers I had been seeking all this time had finally walked into my life. It really is true that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear. What they taught me completely shattered my conceptions about this industry and dissolved my fear instantly.
They taught me EXACTLY what they were doing to make millions of dollars per year online… how they were attracting 100+ leads per day to their business… how they were building their MLM empires effortlessly… and it had absolutely NOTHING to do with their primary business!
I finally learned to throw the idea of cold-calling & harassing friends & family completely out the window and be able to talk to people who were already sold on “ME” before I even spoke to them!
I learned from those who had laid the path before me.
I implemented what they taught me.
And here I am today.
