A couple of months ago I, like many other online entrepreneurs who relied heavily on SEO for internet lead generation, got absolutely crushed by the sweeping changes made with Google’s algorithms.
For me, those little changes were an absolute disaster. Almost all of my traffic to my sites dried up virtually overnight. All of the work I did for the past couple years, even those sites that were on page 1, getting shared like crazy, and getting all kinds of social interaction, got almost completely wiped out by the changes. All the sites I had at page 1 were now at page 21 on the search results.
That hurt like hell.
With these changes now literally everything I knew about internet lead generation, the techniques I used the most, was 100% wrong. I was, at that moment, back at square 1, literally not knowing anything I needed to succeed with my online business.
I am embarrassed to admit that I was so frustrated by what happened that I ended up taking a 2 month hiatus to regroup what sanity I still had left. There was a lot of wound licking to be done.
Fast Forward to last night, when I was given entirely new internet lead generation marching orders:
I was watching a recorded webinar in the Empower Network $15K Formula, and this one in particular was being taught by one of my personal mentors by the name of Rob Fore.
He talked about how 40% of his traffic went away literally overnight with these changes as well, just as much more of mine did.

Here is the harsh reality: it doesn’t matter how awesome your articles and materials are. If you can’t get eyeballs in front of that material it basically doesn’t exist. You have to drive traffic to your content in a very serious way if you expect to survive in the realm of online business.
So how do you drive eyeballs to your content without Google’s help?
I’m glad you asked. If you want to get massive traffic to your site without relying on the whims of an uncaring algorithm, then you are in the right place.
Here are some sites and services (some of which I never would’ve expected) that you can use right this minute to drive all kinds of traffic to your content, leads to your business, and commissions to your wallet.
Every one of these sites have search engines inside the sites themselves. Google is not the only game in town when it comes to specific search. Use this fact to your advantage as you post your content on these sites.
1. Article Sites
There are some specific article sites, like EZineArticles, GoArticles, ArticlesBase, and Buzzle that get all kinds of traffic on its own. These are, as of writing this post, the most popular article sites on the web.
2. Video Sites
There are some good sites like Vimeo, but there is no denying that YouTube reigns supreme in almost every single aspect, especially when it comes to raw eyeballs looking up content.
Also, if you just can’t quit Google, then posting YouTube videos is still one of the best methods available to easily rank (depending on the keyword, of course) on the first page of Google.
3. Forum Posts & Facebook Pages
This one can be a little more tricky. Forum posts and Facebook pages, tend to be very specific for the audiences they go for.
The best advice I can give is to go on Google to look for forums that are specific to your audience, and of course Facebook for specific pages, to find where your target audience likes to hang out.
One example I can give you is this: if you are looking for online entrepreneurs, people looking for the edge over their competition, then a great place for that group is a site called WarriorForums.
Forums are not a place you want to go for fast traffic. You need to build up your street cred before you even think of pitching any of your stuff. Give value by answering questions people have. If the answer lies in a product that you have, then by all means mention it.
KEY POINT: ASK for permission before you post a link on their site, their wall, or any other place that is their own space. People go on forums looking for value, not sales pitches. Give the people on the forums specific value, and if you have a product that specifically solves their problem, ask them if they want the link to the site.
Link spamming = bad, always.
4. Document Sharing Sites
Now, this particular section blew me away. There are some sites that popped up recently that appear to be taking the web by storm in ways I never thought possible. On top of that, marketers are bringing in leads and sales from these sites like crazy!
Here are some of those sites:
Docstoc.com & Box.net – These two sites you can upload documents in different formats, like PDFs, and share them on these sites. You will be surprised at how many searches these documents get.
Zinepal.com – This isn’t a document sharing site, this is a site you can use to take a blog post you did and convert it into a PDF so you can share it on Docstoc.com, Box.net, and the next site in the list called…
Slideshare.net – You cam put PDFs here as well, but they don’t get nearly as much traffic. Powerpoint presentations, on the other hand, get insane amounts of traffic here.
Slideshare.net is made for Powerpoint slides first and foremost. Put some good content here in the form of slides, and you wil be shocked at the traffic you can get with this site.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You can also share YouTube videos with your slides as well, so you could do a full-blown video using screen capture programs like Camtasia, or free ones like CamStudio, to record you doing a full presentation with the slides, uploading the video to YouTube, then sharing that video, along with your slides, on Slideshare.net.
Pinterest – This one kinda shocked me as well. There were other marketers using this and getting some good results already, but I had no clue that it was as powerful as it was.
This is a site where you post pictures, and other people share and favorite those pictures if they like it. Some of the pictures you could do could be quotes, pictures of something cool with a description and link below the picture, whatever it is you want to place on there.
Final Thoughts on Internet Lead Generation
If you got nailed by Google like I did, there is hope yet!
Keep in mind how much free traffic this can be to you. Again, my mentor and friend Rob Fore, who had been doing internet marketing and SEO for more than 10 years. With the algorithm changes he lost 40% of his traffic that he used to get with his SEO efforts. With using the strategies in this article, he got every last bit of that traffic back in 30 days.
If a veteran of internet marketing and SEO can use these tactics to completely recover all of the traffic he lost in the big shakeup with the Panda and Penguin updates (that’s a LOT of traffic, by the way) using these tactics, then imagine what you can do even if you’re just starting out!
